Bovada’s History 300 Betting Lines actually favor Denny Hamlin at 7/1 for this weekend’s race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. But all eyes are on Kyle Busch, who will not only be racing on his team’s home track, but a track he has dominated in the past. Busch, a 17/4 favorite, has won 10 of his last 40 starts there throughout NASCAR’s top three divisions.
He’s already in the history books as the NNS’ youngest winner on the 1 1/2 mile track when he won in 2004, and hasn’t stopped since. He won a Nationwide event in 2009 and 2010, before taking the flag last year in a truck series event. Busch has won a pole at least once in each of his last eight seasons, but will try to accomplish a new first: win at Charlotte as owner of his newly minted Kyle Busch Motorsports.
“The cool thing about it is that I know Mike (Beam, crew chief) is the past winner at this track, so he’s enjoyed success there too and knows what is needed to dial the car in for this race track,” Busch told Motorsports. “As far as being back with the No. 54 guys, I look forward to having some fun trying to get that first win – Kurt has his, now it’s my turn. This track being close to home allows our friends and family to come out and watch us. That makes it extra special if we’re able to pull off the win.”
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. (9/2) has third-best odds to win the race this weekend, followed by Kevin Harvick (21/4).
Danica Patrick is a longshot, way down on the list at 50/1, but will already accomplish an impressive feat by just starting. By even being in the field, she’s just the second female driver to ever start at Charlotte.
“I’m looking forward to the experience. I’m looking forward to the atmosphere,” she said on Charlotte Motor Speedway’s website. “I’m really just excited to get a feel for it. It’s one of the biggest weekends of the year for NASCAR.”
