This Sunday at the Goody’s Fast Pain Relief 500, Kevin Harvick will aim to become the first racer to win this contest in consecutive years since Rusty Wallace’s four-year run back in the early 1990s. Whether or not Harvick will actually be successful at Martinsville Speedway this weekend is debatable, but odds makers seem to have their doubts. Heading into this race, Harvick is being listed at 13/2 to win the proceedings.

Meanwhile, Dale Earnhardt Jr., the man who Harvick blocked from finally snapping a yearlong losing streak with that victory, comes in listed at 18/1 to win the race. In arguably the most memorable finish of the year, Harvick overtook Earnhardt Jr. with four laps to go in the race (after Earnhardt Jr. had led for the last 17 laps) en route to eventual victory. When it was all said and done, he beat Earnhardt by .7 seconds.

Denny Hamlin, who won at Martinsville Speedway in 2008 and 2010, and then came in second in 2009 before coming in 12th last year, is getting a lot of hype coming into this one. Goody’s Fast Pain Relief 500 odds makers have him as the prohibitive favorite at 4/1. Jimmie Johnson and Kyle Bush, who came in 11th and 3rd in last year’s race, respectively, are both coming in this year at 11/2.

Having never finished lower than sixth place in this race (and winning it back in 2002), Jeff Gordon is being listed at 5/1, second on the odds list. On the flip side, Carl Edwards, who has never done particularly well here (best finish: 8th worst finish: 38th) is listed at 30/1.

Brad Keselowski (12/1), Clint Bowyer (20/1), Kasey Kahne (15/1), Martin Truex Jr. (30/1), Matt Kenseth (50/1) and Ryan Newman (20/1) are all potential sleepers to keep an eye on.

This race starts at 1:00 p.m. EDT on Sunday, and it will air on FOX.
